PRODUCT REVIEW: COLOUR COLLECTION BB CREAM (WHITENING)

Ever since BB creams started gaining popularity in the market, I’ve been in search of the best one! I have tried quite a few brands already and let’s just say that I haven’t found THE ONE yet.

I am a member of the Sample Room Philippines, it’s an online community that allows beauty enthusiasts like me to TRY products first (for FREE!) before BUYING them. I am thankful with Sample Room because I do not need to worry about spending a couple of hundred pesos for a product and end up throwing it in the trash bin.

One of the first products I’ve ordered from them is the Colour Collection Vitamin E lipstick (see my review here) in Red Wine, and honestly, I have grown to like the product and I have been using it almost every day. Which is why when I found out that Colour Collection also carries a BB cream, I knew that that was the next product I need to order from that website.

Product Features: This BB cream claims that it:
  1. Whitens and Brightens skin
  2. Protects skin from UV rays (SPF)
  3. Helps heal acne blemishes
  4. Softens and hydrates dry skin
  5. Promotes cell renewal
  6. Reduces pigmentation
  7. Retains moisture
  8. Aids in improving skin elasticity

So, here’s my review:

Packaging: Simple. Very simple. It’s a double ended blade for products like these. To some people, simple is appealing, but to majority of people who is looking for beauty products, like myself, this is a bit of a downfall because it’s not appealing at all. I won’t even notice it if it were displayed on a stall in a mall somewhere. I think, Colour Collection should start making their brand pop out even more by adding colors and designs to their packaging. The product itself is vacuum sealed. After opening the outer packaging and after screwing off the lid, there is another foil that seals the product inside the tube. Well, this assures you that the product you bought is fresh (new/ unopened).

Texture:  The product has a very thick and creamy consistency. I am wondering if it can easily glide on and blended all over the face.

Shade: When I squeezed it out of the bottle, the first thing I noticed was the warm (yellow) tone of the product. I have to be honest, I smiled. I thought that compared with Pond's BB cream, this was definitely closer to my morena skin tone.

Scent: No smell. Period.

To show you my before and after photos, please see below:

Above is my BEFORE photos. On the right is a clean bare face with no product on (even a moisturizer) and on the left is showing you how i evenly distributed the Colour Collection BB cream on my face.

Coverage: I thought that it's creamy consistency will give me a full coverage. I... was... wrong. It doesn't cover up any blemish and red spots even after several layers. I looked more of a ghost than a person.

Now, on the right is how it looks like as soon as I have spread the product all over my face. I told you earlier that I was happy when I saw the product when I squeezed it out of the bottle, however, I guess I celebrated too soon. The product is still too light for my skin tone. (To give you more ideas, I am NC42 in Mac) I thought to keep it on my face all day to see if it will eventually blend in. But as you can see in the image at the left, after 6 hours later, the product didn't blend in. It even gave a white cast when photographed.

I guess I will never know if this product does deliver all the eight (8) beauty features it represents, because I will not purchase and use it. Not to sound too much of a snob but although it's free of charge, I guess the product just didn't live up to my expectations.

The color shade is way too off and it doesn't blend in with the skin. I doubt that I'd enjoy it if I use foundation over it, the product is a bit sticky and heavy on the face and if I add more product over it, it would be too uncomfortable.

So, my rating? It's 1.5 stars out of 5.
